APTR Awards Program

APTR nationally recognizes outstanding individuals and academic programs for achievement in the field of prevention and public health education. Since 1974, the APTR Awards Program has honored those who have made significant contributions in the areas of prevention and public health teaching, research, and service. Awards are presented at the APTR Annual Luncheon during the annual TEACHING PREVENTION meetings.

Duncan Clark Award

Presented to an APTR member with a distinguished record of achievement in the areas of teaching, research and/or advocacy in the field of public health and preventive medicine. This award is named after a founding member of the association.  

F. Marian Bishop Educator of the Year Award

Presented annually, this award recognizes educators who have contributed to the instruction of students or residents in the field of public health and prevention. 

Outstanding Educational Program Award 

Awardee

This award honors an innovative program, department or academic institution for advancing education in prevention and public health. Individuals responsible for the establishment, success, growth, or management of the academic program, which furthers students' interest in the field, are honored. 

Congratulations to the University of Kentucky, Department of Family & Community Medicine Primary Care Training Enhancement (PCTE) program. Roberto Cardarelli, DO, MPH; Chair, Department of Family & Community Medicine. Dr. Cardarelli accepted the APTR Outstanding Educational Program Award during the annual luncheon at Teaching Prevention 2020.

Special Recognition

Periodically, APTR recognizes that an individual, agency, or organization outside of the APTR membership has provided outstanding service and support to APTR, our members, and to the field of prevention and public health. 

 

How to Submit Nominations
The Call for Nominations opens in August and must be submitted online. If you have any questions contact the Membership Department at membership@aptrweb.org.

Selection Process
Selections are made by the APTR Awards Committee. Notifications occur in mid-December.
