These roles support the governance and operation of the Association. APTR represents the interests of its membership through representation on internal and external bodies. These roles are often appointed by the NODA president or Chair of each committee.
Recruitment for these positions typically happens in the fall but can occur year-round. Not all positions are appointed each year and each position lists current availability. The qualification and application process varies for each position and details
are distributed to the APTR membership.
Annual Meeting Planning Committee
These individuals support the visioning, planning, and implementation of the APTR Annual Meeting, Teaching Prevention. Appointments are through the end of June of the selected conference year.
Educational Initiatives Committee
The Charge of the Educational Initiatives Committee is to ensure that the educational offerings of the Association align with the APYT strategic priorities. To meet this charge, the Committee will:
- Facilitate the review of curriculum and teaching resources, webinars, and publications as needed to determine if and how they are meeting the needs of the membership;
- Collaborate with entities providing educational content to membership
- Remain aware of current trends in higher education and make recommendations for new educational offerings;
- Create and review educational offerings provided by the association as assigned by the Board of Directors enhancing offerings and content with diversity, equity, and inclusion in each.
- Determine guidelines and make policy recommendations related to educational program structure, delivery mechanism and location, and standards to be met.
- Identify 1-2 members to participate in the selection of leaders of educational offerings (conferences, webinars)

Membership Engagement Committee
The charge of the membership committee is to assist in membership recruitment, review member benefits, and help ensure an overall positive member experience as part of the Association. To meet this charge, the Committee will:
- Identify the needs of members and recommend the development of services to meet those needs.
- The committee will conduct a formal needs assessment every three years.
- Recommend means for increasing APTR membership base.
- Recommend ways to make prospective and current members aware of the resources, programs, services, and other membership benefits.
- Recommend ways to acknowledge new and renewing members and to encourage participation in APTR.
- Support onboarding activities as necessary.
- Gather information on and analyze non-members’ needs and perceptions of APTR.
- Recommend ways in which to meet these needs to attract non-members to join.
