The APTR-ODPHP Health Policy Residency Rotations in Preventive Medicine Program is on hiatus for the 2017-2018 cycle and will not be accepting applications for this program in fall of 2016.
APTR will offer continuing field placements (rotations) for Preventive Medicine and Primary Care residents based at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

The APTR-ODPHP Health
Policy Residency Rotation Program provides excellent learning opportunities and
applications in health policy for Preventive Medicine and Primary
Care residents. Residents witness
federal health policy in the making and consider the significant role of
physicians in the process. During the
rotation, residents will have the opportunity to work on national preventive
health initiatives as well as attend
meetings and briefings with senior staff/leadership, high-level policy makers
and other prevention-related activities in the Washington, DC area.

Residency rotations occur on-site at the ODPHP office in Rockville.
Preceptors

preceptors for the residents. ODPHP Deputy Director and Division of Community

ODPHP Background
Congress
created ODPHP in 1976 to lead disease prevention and health promotion efforts
in the United States. ODPHP's
mission is to lead and mobilize actions to improve health by establishing
national health priorities and translating disease prevention and health promotion
science into policy, guidance, and tools for a healthier nation.
Through
a variety of initiatives housed within and/or coordinated by the office, ODPHP
provides a prevention framework for the Nation, assists the Department’s
prevention communication efforts, and contributes to the developing prevention
