AJPM Reaches Highest Impact Factor

Monday, July 12, 2021

The APTR journal, American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM), has achieved a 2020 Impact Factor of 5.043. This represents the highest Impact Factor in the journal’s 36-year history and a significant jump from the 2019 score. A journal’s Impact Factor is one of several key metrics used to quantify a journal’s reach, calculated using a formula that compares the number of citations of journal items published in a 2-year period with the number of articles published in that period. Journals with Impact Factors above 5 are widely held to be high impact journals.

This increase comes as AJPM has seen a record number of submissions—2,082—in 2020, with 2021 on track to match or surpass the 2020 figure. Taken together, these are signs that AJPM continues to serve as the premier scholarly journal for the publication of research on prevention science, education, practice, and policy for a global audience.
