APTR Announces New AHRQ 5-Year Contract

Wednesday, October 14, 2020

The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) is pleased to announce a new 5-year contract with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to manage the Preventive Medicine and Primary Care Residency Program for the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). This is the second five-year AHRQ contract with APTR to manage, coordinate and evaluate the Preventive Medicine Residency Program.

Preventive medicine residents are placed by APTR in two-month rotations to assist AHRQ in supporting the USPSTF, a group of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine. APTR-AHRQ Residency Rotations will provide scientific and dissemination support for the USPSTF recommendations and prepare residents for governmental public health and population health practice.  APTR previously managed this program through a different mechanism and has placed 110 residents from 30 residency programs since 2001.
