Application deadline: July 21, 2015

APTR is pleased to announce new funding opportunities open to members of APTR and our three CDC partner organizations – AAMC, AACN, and ASPPH.

Workforce Improvement Projects (WIPs) are one method used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to solicit proposals from eligible applicants in topic areas that are of interest to the CDC Centers, Institutes and Offices (CIOs). WIPs focus on workforce development in various areas of public health practice in domestic or international settings. Potential applicants are encouraged to have a clear understanding of the intent of the WIP before submitting their applications.

2015 Workforce Improvement Projects:

  1. Population-based Surveillance of Venous Thromboembolism (schools or programs of public health) -- $186,100
  2. Population-based Surveillance of Venous Thromboembolism (academic medical center) -- $186,100
  3. Navigation for Improved Outcomes for HIV-infected Persons with Depression and/or Substance Use Disorders -- $1,206,562
  4. Public Health Surveillance Training for DSTDP/Field Staff Employees -- $20,000
  5. Health Equity Training for FSB Field Staff Employees -- $40,000

An electronic PHS Form 5161-1 grant application and application cover sheet should be submitted to APTR at no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on July 21, 2015.

Successful applicants will receive a notice of award and reviewers' critiques in September 2015.

CDC does not permit direct contact between the Centers, Institutes and Offices (CIOs) and applicants. Applicants must address all questions to their member associations who will forward them to CDC.
