This one-hour webinar will feature two teaching resource development projects funded by the APTR-CDC Acceleration of Prevention and Population Health Education Program. This program seeks to expand and support population health education by sharing effective methods of integrating complex topics into existing courses and curricula.

Webinar Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe two teaching resources developed by APTR member faculty that can be used by other educators to teach the topic of migrant health.
  2. Explain why the teaching tools were implemented at the grantee's institution and with which populations of students.
  3. Examine facilitator instructions, recommended readings, videos, and other resources to implement the training at other institutions.


Bridges to Health Equity: Haitian Migrant and Refugee Populations

This presentation will describe a new 3-module lesson addressing the health inequities and health care vulnerabilities of migrant and refugee populations, with a specific lens to the unique experiences of Haitian migrants and refugees.

Migrant Health Teaching Toolkit

This presentation will provide an overview of a new teaching toolkit focused on addressing the health needs of migrant agricultural populations produced by the University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center (HSC) Southwest Center for Agricultural Health, Injury Prevention, and Education (SW Ag Center).It covers occupational risk factors and non-occupational risk factors and integrates and expands on the teaching resources available in the APTR Migrant Health Resource Library.
