Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health |
The APTR Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health represents accredited and emerging graduate public health programs and provides a forum for graduate programs and their faculty across the U.S. that grant public health degrees. Through the Council faculty from graduate programs are provided curriculum and networking resources. The Council serves as the focal point for directors of MPH programs to share information and address issues of concern to programs. The Council consists of any degree-granting program at the graduate level which prepares students for professional careers in preventive medicine, social medicine, community health, population health, and/or public health. These programs must be a departmental member of APTR. History of the CouncilThe Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health was formed in the 1970s when public health programs outside of schools of public health sought an umbrella under which they could create an organizing body. APTR members now include graduate public health programs from across the U.S. seeking networking, communication, and representation for all faculty. |
