Announcing Selections for CDC Public Health Education Specialist Opportunities

APTR is proud to announce that Cheryl L. R. Gaddis, DrPH, MPH, CHES, and Shauntice Allen, PhD has been selected for the Public Health Education Specialist (PHES) opportunity with CDC to improve the curriculum for Academic Partnerships to Improve Health (APIH) trainees in the Public Health Fellowship program.
Dr. Gaddis is the MPH Program Director and Assistant Professor at Mercer University College of Health Professions, and is experienced with distance-learning education. She has served on the Mercer University Interprofessional Committee, which developed interprofessional experiences based on the Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPEC) for students in public health, physical therapy, clinical medical psychology, nursing, pharmacy, and medicine. During the PHES project period, she will have the opportunity to review and assess current training offerings, identify gaps in curriculum, and develop standard evaluation assessments.
Dr. Allen is the Center for Clinical and Translational Science Program Director and Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with expertise in multidisciplinary program design. She created and developed the Community Health Innovation Awards program at UAB providing over $360,000 in funding to 25 community organizations. During the PHES project period, she will establish relationships with contacts at Emory and other community partners to develop community-based rotations for fellows’ professional development.
