APTR Hosts 2ndAdvisoryCommitteeMeeting
to Enhance Immunization Curriculum
On June 6-7, APTR and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), National Center on Immunization and Respiratory Diseases
(NCIRD), meet with 14 academic nursing representatives for the second meeting
of the Advisory Committee on Integration of Immunization into
Undergraduate Nursing Curriculum meeting. The recent climate around
immunizations, advancements in teaching methods for health professions
education, and the practice of nursing have resulted in the need to enhance immunization
resources for training and education of nurses. The advisory committee reviewed
a proposed framework and provided recommendations for the development of new
case study resources.
The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) has a
long history of working with the to develop and enhance educational and
training programs around immunizations. Since 1990 APTR, through its
cooperative agreement with CDC, has partnered with professional organizations
to assess immunization training needs of health professionals and develop
appropriate programs, publications workshops, presentations, articles, and
websites based on those assessments.
