Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health
The Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health supports universities, schools, and colleges in developing, maintaining and advancing graduate programs in the disciplines included within the fields of preventive and social medicine, and community and public health. The Council is open to any degree-granting program at the graduate level that prepares students for professional careers in preventive medicine, social medicine, community health and/or public health. The Council serves as the focal point for information sharing and discussion which addresses issues of concern to such programs and is the organizational liaison between the programs and APTR. The Council meets twice a year. All voting members of the Council must be an APTR academic unit institutional member.
The Healthy People Curriculum Task Force
The Healthy People Curriculum Task Force was founded by APTR in order to fulfill Healthy People 2010 Objective 1.7: "Increase the proportion of schools of medicine, schools of nursing and health professional training schools whose basic curriculum for health care providers includes the core competencies in health promotion and disease prevention."
The Task Force is a collaborative effort of eight member clinical health professional education associations: allied health, allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine, nursing, nurse practitioners, pharmacy, dentistry, and physician assistants.
Council of Heads of Academic Units
The Council of Heads of Academic Units encourages, promotes and supports Schools of Medicine in developing, maintaining and advancing educational, research and clinical programs in the disciplines included within the field of preventive medicine. The Council serves as the focal point for information sharing and discussion which addresses issues of concern to such units and is the organizational liaison between these units and APTR. In the latter capacity the Council recommends to the APTR Board of Directors policies and activities that relate to the interest and needs of academic units of preventive medicine.
Prevention Education Resource Center Editorial Board
The Editorial Board leads the development of the Prevention Education Resource Center (PERC) and ensures the quality of materials housed in the collection. The Editorial Board is comprised of an Editor and ten Associate Editors. The Editorial Board is responsible for implementing and managing the review process for all materials, recruiting faculty reviewers, and expanding the collection of online teaching materials.
American Journal of Preventive Medicine Governing Board
The Board of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine manages the business, property and affairs of the Journal. The Board establishes policies, including financial policies, which describe the aims, objectives, and general content of the Journal. Through these policies the Board directs the broad content, style, and purpose of the Journal.
Awards and Lectures Subcommittee
Publicly acknowledges the achievements of individuals and organizations that advance prevention in education, research and practice. On an annual basis the Committee nominates one candidate for each of the APTR awards authorized by the Board of Directors. When opportunities arise, the Committee nominates APTR members for appropriate awards given by other professional organizations. APTR Awards include: the APTR Outstanding Educator Award, the Duncan Clark Award for Outstanding Service to the Field of Prevention and Public Health and other special awards.

Campaign for Public Health
CPH is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to fighting disease andstrengthening health protection efforts by increasing the budget of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Coalition for Health Funding

The Coalition for Health Funding is a nonprofit alliance of 50 national health organizations that works in a nonpartisan fashion to ensure that health discretionary spending remains highly visible as Congress and the Administration set federal budget priorities. Working with its members, the Coalition seeks to ensure that funding for the programs and agencies that comprise the U.S. Public Health Service is adequate to meet public need.

Task Force on Community Preventive Services

The Task Force is an independent, non-governmental, volunteer body of public health and prevention experts, whose members are appointed by the Director of CDC. The role of the Task Force is to oversee systematic reviews led by CDC scientists; carefully consider and summarize review results; make recommendations for interventions that promote population health; identify areas within the reviewed topics that need more research.

An independent organization to ensure that students and graduates from schools and programs of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) have mastered the knowledge and skills relevant to contemporary public health. This purpose will be accomplished by developing, preparing, administering and evaluating a voluntary certification exam.
