Annual Meeting Planning Commmittee

Teaching Prevention, the annual meeting of APTR, gathers faculty from public health, medicine, and other health professions to focus on the knowledge, skills, collaborations, and resources needed to teach, practice, and promote population health improvement.

The Annual Meeting Planning Committee enhances the educational programming and overall delivery of Teaching Prevention. Responsibilities include developing the conference theme and goals, identifying session topics, determining conference schedule, and making speaker/session selections for the conference program.

Policy Committee

This committee was established to identify policy issues of concern to APTR and APTR members that relate to prevention and public health generally and that also have particular relevance for those in prevention and public health education and research. The committee is charged with identifying one or two issues of greatest immediate importance, with a reassessment every year or 6 months to one year. 

To join contact with your interest. If you are interested in joining the Policy Committee you must be a current APTR member in good standing. 

Environmental Health Competencies Workgroup

This workgroup is examining the impact that eliminating the CEPH requirement of a course in each of the “five disciplines” is having on environmental health courses in public health programs and schools. Are these courses being replacing  with those that fall in line more concretely with the new competencies? The workgroup will explore strategies to support public health programs that wish to maintain or enhance environmental health course work in their curriculum. 

Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health

The Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health supports universities, schools, and colleges in developing, maintaining and advancing graduate programs in public and population health. The Council serves as the focal point for information sharing and discussion which addresses issues of concern to such programs and is the organizational liaison between the programs and APTR. All members of the Council must be an APTR Departmental Member.

American Journal of Preventive Medicine Governing Board

The Board of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine manages the business, property and affairs of the Journal. The Board establishes policies, including financial policies, which describe the aims, objectives, and general content of the Journal. Through these policies the Board directs the broad content, style, and purpose of the Journal. APTR appoints four (4) members to the Board.
