APTR is pleased to announce that the application cycle for the 2019-2020 Class of Paul Ambrose Scholars opened on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

The application deadline is Friday, November 30, 2018.

The Paul Ambrose Scholars Program prepares public health and clinical health professions students to promote change and be leaders in addressing population health challenges at the national and community level. Each year, the program selects a cohort of 40 students from across the health professions to attend a Student Leadership Symposium. Students commit their time and effort to improve health within their communities through the planning and implementation of a community-based project. The Paul Ambrose Scholars Program helps students cultivate leadership and organizational skills in public health education outside of the classroom.

Over 665 students from more than 200 academic institutions
are Paul Ambrose Scholars.

Over the course of the program year, participants will:
  • Attend the Student Leadership Symposium-April 1-2, 2019 in Cleveland, OH during Teaching Prevention 2019
  • Participate in trainings, coursework, and mentoring via webinars and other virtual learning technology
  • Plan and implement a community-based project at their home institution
  • Produce a final project report

Students will implement a community-based project that addresses a health promotion or disease prevention topic relevant to their community and/or institution. After attending the Symposium, Scholars have one year to complete and report on project outcomes and impact.
