The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) are pleased to present the One Health Interprofessional Education Webinar.  This webinar will present case studies available for use by instructors from a variety of health professions.  The curriculum is the product of a partnership formed in 2015 between APTR, the Health People Curriculum Task Force, and the AAVMC. These groups collaborated on the One Health Interprofessional Education Initiative, a program designed to provide pedagogical support for introducing One Health concepts into the degree programs of students in the health professions.

The case studies represent the work of researchers in veterinary medicine, human medicine, public health and other health professions on topics that range from lead poisoning to emerging diseases such as Chikungunyavirus.  One Health is the collaborative effort of multiple disciplines – working locally, nationally, and globally – to attain optimal health for people, animals and our environment. The One Health initiative focuses attention on the importance of the connections between human health, animal health, and ecosystem health.

Emerging infectious disease threats, as well as growing awareness about the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and the positive benefits of human-animal interactions are bringing One Health concepts to the attention of many educators in the health professions. This webinar will highlight this initiative and four case study authors will present their work.
