The aims of the workshop are to promote community engaged research around the health of children and youth; increase the knowledge and commitment to conduct rigorous cross-disciplinary research in order to improve health outcomes; to identify effective strategies for project development, implementation, and dissemination in community engaged research; and to bring together individuals and institutions devoted to child health promotion and disease prevention and research. The didactic and active sessions will provide opportunities to dig deeper into issues at all stages of community engaged research, as well as exploring dissemination beyond publication, and how research can inform policy. 

 

Speakers include internationally recognized leaders in community engaged, implementation science, and child health research, including: 

  • Lawence W. Green, DRPH, one of the developers of the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model, which has been used throughout the world to guide health program intervention design, implementation, and evaluation;

  • Michael Cabana, MD, MPH Chief, Division of General Pediatrics Director, research interests include asthma, pediatric health services research, quality care, primary prevention of asthma, practice variation, probiotics, physician prescribing patterns and physician practice patterns, with community health interest is high school mentoring;

  • Sarah Flicker, PhD, MPH, assistant professor in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University, research interests include youth health, HIV, urban health, health promotion, ethics, the social determinants of health, and community-based participatory research.

6 CME Credits will be provided.
