Founding Director, Program in Preventive Rheumatology at the Feinberg School
The Institute for Public Health and
Medicine (IPHAM) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is
dedicated to accelerating innovation at the interface of medicine and public
health and achieving measurable improvements in health for patients and
populations. IPHAM is seeking a Director of a new program in Preventive
Rheumatology to establish credibility and spark interest in this emerging field
of study. Supported by the Chang-Lee Family Professorship in Preventive
Rheumatology, the program has initiated its activities on July 26, 2013 with an
all-day Preventive Rheumatology Symposium, the goal of which is to advance
research activities that will lead to increased community and clinical efforts
to prevent the various forms of rheumatic disorders and their painful and
IPHAM seeks a faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, who is
committed to a career of preventive rheumatology research. Candidates must have
an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly
research, work collaboratively as members of interdisciplinary teams, and
obtain peer-reviewed research funding. Ideal candidates should have proven
leadership and innovation in the field of preventive rheumatology and a
commitment to the mission of IPHAM with the ability to attract additional
independent investigators to the Program. It is expected that the chosen
candidate will have a primary appointment in the Department of Preventive
Medicine and a secondary appointment in the Rheumatology Division of the
Department of Medicine. Appointment will be full-time with an initial term of
three to five years. Salary will be negotiable and commensurate.
Successful candidates will be expected to pursue an externally-funded research
agenda while collaborating with interdisciplinary scholars across IPHAM, as
well as other departments, divisions, institutes, centers, and programs across
Northwestern University. IPHAM is primarily located at the Feinberg School of
Medicine, on the Chicago campus of Northwestern University, and is designed to
harmonize with Northwestern University’s Clinical and Translational Sciences
