APTR Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

Each year, APTR salutes members of the prevention community who have exhibited exceptional service by awarding those distinguished individuals and programs in the field of prevention and public health education with APTR's highest honor. During this ceremony the 2007 and 2008 awardees will be recognized for their achievements.

It Takes a Village--Teaching and Practicing Prevention

Explore the emerging importance of interprofessional collaboration and team work to effectively implement and teach prevention in the complex U.S. health care environment. This overview will provide innovative efforts of a new Health Sciences University to incorporate prevention and cross-discipline collaboration into teaching and clinical practice, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular disease prevention and management.

Learn the status on interprofessional prevention education in the U.S. with panelists who illustrate an initiative underway at their institution and explain how interprofessional prevention education is being incorporated into both curricula and community-based educational programs.
National Panel on Public Health Credentialing and Accreditation

Presently there are efforts to accredit academic institutions, Health Departments, and Public Health practitioners. Explore the rationale and the overall impact of these efforts. Is there value in combining or linking criteria? Could certification affect workforce diversity? How certification affects curriculum and what might be the impact on public health disciplines outside of one or all of these accreditations?
