APTR Rising Star Recipients

The APTR Rising Star Award recognizes a student or early-career member who demonstrates a strong commitment to prevention and public health and shows exceptional promise of leadership and contribution to APTR. This award was first given in 2013.

2013 - Courtney M. Moore

Courtney M. Moore
4th Year Medical Student
Wayne State University

Ms. Moore is the first recipient of this new award and is currently a fourth year medical student at Wayne State University Her residency interests include general internal medicine with a focus on cardiology and hypertension. She aspires to earn a career which encompasses internal medicine, education and public health improvement.

Ms. Moore was selected as an APTR Paul Ambrose Scholar in 2012 for her dedication to public health improvement, particularly her foundation of the "Health Is Where The Heart Is” initiative. The program encourages patients to improve their heart health by implementing one, simple heart healthy habit a day. Patients are encouraged to implement simple heart healthy habits into their demanding schedules and achieve a better level of heart health. Physician referrals for those who did not already have an existing primary care physician are provided as well as contact information for our organization and institutions which offered low-cost or free healthcare services (including radiologic, laboratory, physical therapy, prescriptions and transportation).
