APTR is a national membership organization for academic institutions and faculty advancing the education of physicians and other health professionals in prevention and population health.

Founded in 1942, members include faculty from preventive medicine and public health departments within medical schools and health professions institutions and graduate programs in public health. The APTR Council of Graduate Programs in Public Health represents graduate public health programs and provides a voice for the accredited and emerging graduate programs across the U.S. that grant public health degrees.

APTR Honors Educators in Preventive Medicine and Population Health

Each year, APTR honors individuals and academic programs that have contributed greatly to the field of preventive medicine and population health.  The awards were presented at the annual awards luncheon  during the APTR annual meeting, TEACHING PREVENTION 2014: Convergence of Technology, Innovation &Collaboration in Washington, DC.   The 2014 award recipients:

Duncan Clark Award

Presented to a senior-level person with a distinguished record of achievement in the areas of teaching, research and/or advocacy in the field of public health and preventive medicine. This award is named after a founding member of the association.

F. Marian Bishop Educator of the Year Award
