This Framework is the first structured and comprehensive curriculum agenda for integrating clinical prevention and population health into the education of students across the health professions disciplines. The academic community is encouraged to apply this Framework to curriculum design, evaluation and accreditation efforts.

The Curriculum Guide is adaptable and customizable to the specific learning environments and health professions education programs of an institution. The guide is intended for faculty members in health professions education programs seeking to design and implement interprofessional learning activities in the area of clinical prevention and population health.
Healthy People 2020 is an ambitious, science-based,10-year agenda for improving the health of all Americans. A key component, Education for Health, is an educational roadmap to achieve the Healthy People 2020 goals. Formulated by the Healthy People Curriculum Task Force, this set of new and revised educational objectives provides a vehicle for promoting the discussion and progress that will be needed to achieve an integrated, seamless approach to education for health for the American public as well as for health professionals.
The Successful Practices Project encouraged the creation and dissemination of institutional case studies that support the Healthy People 2020 educational objectives as defined in the Education for Health framework.The case studies describe the development of successful prevention, population health, and public health programs in graduate health professions education programs andat 2-year and 4-year undergraduate institutions.
This instrument is designed with an emphasis on prevention and will assist institutions in assessing where they are in the development of Interprofessional Education on their respective campuses.

This 2004 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine introduces the Clinical Prevention and Population Health Curriculum Framework that can be incorporated into the training of all clinical health professions. This curriculum was developed by a consortium of leaders, including allopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, and physician assistants.
